Herbert "Herb" A. McPherson

Herbert “Herb” A. McPherson, 68, of Huntsville, went to be with the Lord at 8:35 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at his home with his family. He was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio on October 29, 1956, to the late Norman E. and Vernice W. (Hurley) McPherson.

On October 13, 1984, he married Tracy (Shelly) McPherson and together they had 2 children, Leah and Lance.

Along with his parents, Herb was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Carol McPherson, and three older brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert “Bob” McPherson, James “Jim” (Judy) McPherson, and John (Jeannie) McPherson.

He was the brother of Karen (Brad) Weidenhamer, Phillip “Mike” (Shirley T.) McPherson, Phyllis (Larry) Jerviss, Jean (John) Schultz, Ev (Jim) Hurley, and Marcia (Dale) Stoffer; brother-in-law to Pat (Mary) Shelly, Mike Shelly, Russell (Catherine) Perdue; and sisters-in-law, Shirley S. McPherson and Erin Shelly. Herb had 95 nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews that meant the world to him, along with his best friend for life, Dave Tanger and many others.

Herb was an enthusiastic guitar player who performed in his church's praise band. He also had a passion for riding motorcycles with friends, renovating houses, watching The Ohio State Buckeyes, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Herb was known for his conscientious nature and willingness to assist others in need. Recently, he focused on connecting others with Jesus.

Pastor Rob Starnes and Pastor Rick Cryder will officiate a funeral service at 12 Noon on Monday, April 28, 2025, at the Gretna Brethren Church, 1564 Township Road 46, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the church. A burial will follow the funeral in Huntsville Cemetery.
