Herbert Hans Jochims Jr. (Herbie) passed peacefully at home on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at age of 79. He was surrounded by his wife and family. He was born April 27th, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI. to Herbert Hans Jochims Sr. and Lorraine (Shortal) Jochims. The song "Forever Young" by Rod Stewart embodied Herbert to a tee. Not only did he strive to be Forever young, but he was forever in love with his wife, Mary-Jean (Meyer) Jochims, together for almost 65 years. Together they built a family to include three children, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. His greatest joys were spending as much time as he could with them and bragging about them. Whatever road his family chose he was right behind them, win or lose. Always reminding them they made him forever young and they would always be forever loved.
Celebrating love and life with his wife and children Troy (Lori) Jochims, Sean Jochims, and Karrie Jochims. His greatest pleasure, his grandchildren, Shane, Karissa, Morgan, Elli, Kassandra, Ethan, Sean-Evan, and his great grandchildren Collin, James and Aurora. Together they know, he will live on in their hearts.
Herbert loved living and making memories on Okauchee Lake for many years. He loved to teach his grandkids, nieces, and nephews to waterski and enjoy the water. He prided himself on being one of the first and last people to water ski every year. Herbert and Mary-Jean loved to travel with their family and even just the 2 of them. They were never afraid to hit the open road and found themselves lost many times. They traveled a lot of the country, but his favorite place to vacation remained Las Vegas. (The inspiration for the saying "what Happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" came from.)
Herbert is being called home to join his parents Herbert Sr. and Lorraine, sister Pamela and brother Gerrit. He is survived by his sister Karen (Jochims) Rostango, and brother's Lance (Debbie) Jochims, and William Jochims.
Herbert's family would like to thank the many caregivers who helped him live a long, beautiful life. A special thank you to his daughter, Karrie, who was his angel of Mercy and caregiver through all the tough times. He was very proud to have her caring for him.
Please come help us celebrate his incredible life and family on Thursday October 6th, 2022. Visitation will be from 9:30am to 11am at St Augustine church, followed by a memorial service at 11am. St Augustine's 2513 S. Howell Ave. Milwaukee (Bayview), WI 53207. This is where Herbert and Mary- Jean's wedding almost 60 years ago.
