Herbert Alexander Martin Jr

Herbert "Herb" Alexander Martin, Jr. 46 of Fairmont passed away after a 5-year battle with cancer. He was born in Fairmont on May 14, 1979, a son of the late Herbert and Rebecca Ledsome Martin, Sr.
He inspired those around him with his strength and resilience despite many challenges, he remained devoted to his loved ones and cherished the time spent with them.
He enjoyed fishing, kayaking and camping. He found peace in the beauty of nature. His great joy came from spending time with family.
He worked for Conners Trucking as a mechanic till his health would no longer allow him to do so.
He is survived by three sons Lucas Martin, Austin Martin and Devin Martin; a daughter he claimed as his own Krystiauna Gillespie and her children Kolton, Tatum and Kingston; one sister Tami Cox and her husband Larry and their children Kaylee and Roger; his caregiver and best friend and cousin Kayla Satterfield and her husband Justin and their children Hunter, Tyler and Sophia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Oscar and Ama Martin and Harvey and Mardella Ledsome.
The family would like to thank Hospice, Mary Babb Cancer Center staff and nurses, and Kayla Satterfield and her family for taking care of Herbert while fighting his battle. In keeping with his wishes, Herbert will be cremated, and the family will hold a memorial at a later date. Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home are honored to be assisting the family with these arrangements.
