Herbert Owens Offutt Sr.

Herbert Owens Offutt, Sr., of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, at the age of 84. He was at the Norton healthcare pavilion downtown in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on February 14, 1941, in Belle, Vernon, Pennsylvania, Herbert was the son of late Harvey and Maude (Holland) Offutt.
A devoted patriot, Herbert proudly served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Navy, achieving a distinguished career. He also dedicated three decades to his work at General Electric. He was a faithful member of First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. In his leisure time, Herbert enjoyed, testing his luck and skills at the casino, especially at the blackjack table. Herbert was a man of few words, he said what he meant and meant what he said.
Herbert's memory will be cherished by his beloved wife of 58 years, Anna (towns) Offutt of Jeffersonville, Indiana; his two sons, Herbert Offutt jr. of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Carlos Offutt (Johanna Lavigne) of Bowie, Maryland; and his granddaughter Lauren Lorance, grandson Herbert Offutt III and great grandson Ezra Lorance. He is also survived by his loving sister. Carline Barnes of Bell, Vernon, Pennsylvania, along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Harvey and Maude Offutt. Brothers Harvey, Albert, Walter, Howard; Sisters Yvonne, Moselle, Maxine, Mildred.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Presentation will take place at the church prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Interment will follow the service at Eastern Cemetery.
