Herbert Henry Parker, age 93, resident of Prosperity SC entered the Gates of Heaven, Thursday, June 27, 2024, peacefully at his home.
Born on July 21, 1930 in Asheville, NC he was a son of the late William Hillard Parker and Cora Lee Lambert Parker.
Herbert loved the Lord, and reading God’s word. Although he loved every verse in the Bible, his life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
If there was ever a man who loved his family unconditionally, it was Herbert. He accepted all with an open heart and enthusiasm.
Herbert was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran with Five Stars in Korean Service and he was retired from Vulcan Materials.
Herbert was a member of Park Road Baptist Church, which he was an active member in founding and constructing in 1996.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth B. Parker, his second wife Ethel Chapman Parker, a daughter Mitia Elaine Parker, a sister Gladys P. Warren, and brothers, Harold Lee Parker, James Lewis Parker, and John Williams Parker.
He is survived by his son, Daniel Judson Parker, his grandson, Jonathan (Brantlee) Koopman, his great-grand furbaby, Willow, a special niece, Deborah McClary and a special friend who was like a daughter to him, Hilda Lopez
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Park Road Baptist Church, 360 State Park Road, Prosperity, SC with the Rev. Jeff O’Dell officiating.
The family will receive family and friends at 1478 State Park Road, Prosperity, SC throughout the week and an hour after the service.
