Herbert Lee Riddick, Sr. was born on September 15, 1943, in Nansemond County, Virginia. He passed away peacefully at his home on August 15, 2025, at the age of 81. Herbert was surrounded by his devoted family.

On August 15, 2025, God sent angels to take you to your rest. You were a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and even had a great-great-grandchild. You were special, I must say. You lived a life of joy, love, and peace until one day a sickness decided to take over. It didn't get you down at once because you were a fighter who wouldn't give up. You always had a quiet and meek spirit and were full of love for everyone. A heart as pure as gold, and truly loved the word of God and lived it. The man you were, no one can forget you. God is pleased now, you can rest on, remember you did your best! For those who still have their husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle, treat them with tender care because you never know the value until you see that vacant chair.

Herbert, Sr attended Suffolk Public Schools. He worked for BAE Systems for 30 years as a Black Smith and he didn't play about a clean house or yard!!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph Riddick and Ella Mae Darden.

Herbert, Sr., is survived by his wife, Mattie Riddick; children, Antonio, Herbert Jr, Robert, Calvin, Audreya Walker (Brady), Joy, and Makita. Siblings, Princess (Glend), Charlie, and George (Mary); 16 grandchildren, including Lakeytha Riddick, ShaQuala Riddick, Daisha Radcliffe; 18 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by 2 special nurses/granddaughters, Umika and ShaNika Faulk.
