Herbert Schraepfer
March 15, 1941 - January 20, 2026
Herbert M. Schraepfer, of Hollandale, Wis., born on March 15, 1941, in Madison to Fred and Agnes (Brattlie) Schraepfer, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at St. Mary's in Madison at the age of 84, surrounded by his family.
Herbert graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1959. He spent his entire life in the River Fork neighborhood, where he operated a dairy farm with his father, and later alongside his wife and sons. Herb cherished his daily time on the farm, particularly during planting and harvest, and loved gathering with friends for coffee and playing euchre. His grandchildren will remember "Grandpa's Shuttle Service" and him happily getting them where they needed to go.
Herb was a member of the Moscow Town Board for many years, first as a supervisor and later as Chairman. He was a lifetime member of Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville.
On May 2, 1964, he was united in marriage to Donna Schave at the First Presbyterian Church in Cambria.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; his three children, Pauline (Ron) Hittesdorf, Larry (Andrea) Schraepfer, and Dan (Angela) Schraepfer, all of Hollandale; his eight grandchildren, Kailee (Cole), Colton, Easton, Chloe, Sophia, Samantha, Cooper and Gretta; his great-granddaughter, Vaeda; his sisters-in-law, Clarice Schraepfer and Laurie Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eldon; many special cousins and friends; his in-laws, Martin and Evelynn Schave, Lois (Don) Froehlich, Virginia (George) Deakin, and Lyle Schave.
Funeral Services will take place Monday, January 26, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville, 1057 State Road 78, Mount Horeb, Wis. The service will be livestreamed on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page. Reverend Kelli Fisher will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery, followed by a catered luncheon in the church's fellowship hall. A visitation will be held at Blanchard Hall, 204 S. Main Street, Blanchardville, Wis., on Sunday, January 25, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m., and before services at Perry Lutheran on Monday, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
