Herbert Schraft passed away suddenly, Wednesday March 11, 2026 at his Parsippany, NJ home. He was 91.

Born in Conweiler, Germany, he immigrated to the United States in 1959, settling in Paterson, NJ. Herbert was extremely proud to become a United States citizen in 1962. He raised his family in the Pine Brook section of Montville Township, NJ, before coming to Parsippany 19 years ago.

Mr. Schraft met his future bride, the former Maria Dolores Sanso while vacationing in Barcelona, Spain. Following a three year long distance courtship, the couple married on May 27, 1963, and enjoyed nearly 63 years of marriage together.

Herbert was a machinist with the Alco Machine Company of Bloomfield. He later became a part-owner of the company, which evolved into Impro Systems Inc. He retired in 2003.

Mr. Schraft was a longtime member of the Paterson Saengerbund.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Maria Dolores (nee Sanso); three loving sons, Michael H Schraft of Montville, NJ, Paul Schraft of Lincoln Park, NJ, and Herb Schraft of Rockaway, NJ; a dear sister, Gerta Biagi of Germany; and two cherished grandchildren, Owen and James Schraft. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Alfred Schraft and Margaret Hotz.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, 2:00pm-4:00pm & 7:00pm-9:00pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha, NJ. A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 8:30pm during the Visitation. Private cremation will follow on Wednesday.
