Herbert Sies

SIES, Herbert Roy, Age 97, of Sharonville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026.

Born in Sharonville, Ohio, Herb was a lifelong resident who cherished his community and family.

A dedicated U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he served with courage and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Joellen (Yeager) Sies.

Herb will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love of the outdoors, and his passion for fishing—often sharing stories and laughter with those around him.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Sies and Philip (Tricia) Sies; his grandchildren, Anna (Riley)McLaughlin and Carson Sies; and his great-grandchild, Lincoln McLaughlin.

Visitation will be held on April 10 at 10am at Hodapp Funeral Home, 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Road, West Chester Township, OH 45069, with the service starting at 11:30, followed by a private family ceremony at the gravesite.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Korean War Veterans Association (kwva.us, where donations can be designated “in memory of”), the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) (dav.org/ways-to-give or support.dav.org for memorial/tribute options), or an outdoor charity of your choice.

Herb lived a long, full life marked by service, family devotion, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed.
