Herbert "Larry" Spivey

VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICE HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Mr. Herbert "Larry" Spivey, age 79, of Nicholls, Georgia, passed away suddenly Monday, September, 23, 2024 at Coffee Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Spivey, a Coffee County native, was born on September 15, 1945 in Ambrose, Georgia, to the late William M. Spivey and the late Gladys Harper Spivey. He was a devoted husband of 57 years to the late Patsy Jean Kirkland Spivey until her death in 2022. He was also a proud veteran of the Georgia National Guard where he served for 9 years. His career was in the manufacturing industry where he was a fabricator for Fabwell (now known as Douglas Metal Roofing) for many years. Mr. Spivey was a dedicated member of Saving Grace Ministries where he enjoyed singing for the Lord. He was an avid football fan who loved his Georgia Bulldogs and Coffee County Trojans. He also enjoyed working with his chickens. Mr. Spivey loved people and enjoyed being around folks. One of his favorite activities was having breakfast at Burger King with friends. Along with his wife and parents, Mr. Spivey was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Ineva Harper, Janell Paulk, Frances Harper, Ernestine DuPree, Judy Gurley; 3 brothers: Lee Spivey, Thurman Spivey, and Carroll Spivey.
Mr. Spivey is survived by a daughter, Michelle Spivey and husband Forrest Porter of Douglas, Georgia; a son, Shawn Spivey and wife Hailey of Ickesburg, Pennsylvania; 9 Grandchildren: Kanaan, Kami, Shaley, Herbert, Andrew, Harper, Kirkland, Morrow and MaryElise; 2 Brothers: R.W. Spivey and wife Earlene of Ambrose, Georgia, and Wilton Spivey of Douglas, Georgia; 2 special nieces: Kendra Ray and Leighanna McBride, along with a number of extended family members.
Mr. Spivey's family will receive friends Sunday evening, September 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Saving Grace Ministries. The funeral service will be held Monday, September 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM Saving Grace Ministries with Rev. Cliff Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery.
