Herman Barren, Jr.
June 24, 1944 – March 2, 2024
Herman Barren, Jr., a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL was born
June 24, 1944 to the union of Herman and Lovie Barren, Sr. He
exchanged life for eternal rest on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at
home.
Herman lived a full life and loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ and the Revelation Baptist Church.
He was a proud Vietnam Veteran where he proudly served in the
United States Army. The opportunity to serve his country was a
topic he loved sharing. He worked at and managed a grocery chain
for many years and later became an employee of the Alabama
Power Company.
Herman gladly assisted members of his community with
construction projects and volunteered his time. He coached youth
sports, loved to entertain, and drew people in through sharing his
stories. He also loved his grandchildren, family, friends, and
sports.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Barren, Sr.;
mother, Lovie Barren; and brother, Johnny Barren.
Herman leaves to cherish his memories, four children: Tammy
Barren, Bell Flower of CA, Natasha Murray of New Orleans, LA,
Renae Barren of Mobile, AL and Horatio (Michelle) Barren of
Franklin, TN; five devoted grandchildren: Kendra Murray, Keeyon
Murray, Kayla Barren, Ellis Barren and Averie Barren; six
brothers and sisters: Billy (Janet) Barren of Mobile, AL, Mattie
Parker of Lawrenceville, GA, Arlie (Marcia) Barren of St. Louis.
MO, Normia Young (James) Pickett of Columbus, OH, Irma
(Mark) Nicholson of Bowie, MD and Pastor Joseph (Cliffordean)
Barren of Mobile, AL; adopted sisters and brothers: Edwina
(Henry Sr.) Jackson, Perry Lee Hardy, Earnestine Hardy, Howard
(Earnestine) Hardy and Richard (Janet) Hardy all of Montgomery,
AL; a devoted friend, Earlene Malone of Mobile, AL; and a host of
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
