Mr. Herman G. "Buzzy" Lancaster, Sr., 86, of
Morrisonville, IL formerly of
Kincaid, IL passed from this life early Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at home with family by his side.
He was born in
Kincaid, IL October 29, 1939, the son of Riley Eugene and Geraldine Roberta "Boots" (Lisse) Lancaster. Buzz married Sharon K. Kelly on June 20, 1959, in Taylorville and Sharon preceded him in death on July 20, 2008. He later married Barbara Badman on March 13, 2010, and she survives him.
Mr. Lancaster was a member of the catholic faith and attended church at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Kincaid and St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus council #1151 in
Morrisonville, IL. Buzzy started coal mining at the age of 18 and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America being one of the last to retire from and lock the gates at Peabody Mine #10 near Pawnee. He also worked as a volunteer EMT for Masterson Ambulance. Once retired he worked for South Fork Schools as a custodian as well as working part-time for Masterson Funeral Home for a great many years. Buzz and Sharon were foster parents for over 40 years and fostered over 400 children. In his younger years he formed a band named the RockAFellas in which he played the saxophone. He played organized Men's Fastpitch Softball and coached softball for many years continually giving back to his community. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears and South Fork Ponies fan. He enjoyed and looked forward to deer hunting trips with family every year around Thanksgiving time and truly cherished the time he was able to spend with family and friends.

Morrisonville, IL his children Kelly Lancaster Lael and her husband Bob of Edinburg, IL H. Gary Lancaster, Jr and his wife Gosia of Illiopolis, IL Peggy Alvira-Castle of
Kincaid, IL Michael VanEtten of Springfield, IL Brenda Kay Hernandez-Lancaster of Colorado, Quinton Lancaster of Taylorville, IL Jeff Graham and his wife Tara of Stonington, IL Lisa Durbin and her husband David of Palmer, IL Kenny Badman and his wife Jodie of
Morrisonville, IL Teri Deal and her husband Phil of
Morrisonville, IL along with 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 2 sisters CanDee and husband Wayne Luttrell of Kincaid and CynDee Wyatt of Carlinville, IL and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sharon K. Lancaster, a daughter Kathy Harris, a sister Charna Roberta Collier and a great-grandson Darren Alan Durbin.
Visitation for Herman G. "Buzzy" Lancaster will be held from 10 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 P.M. with Rev Chad Foster officiating. Burial will then take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL. Memorial contributions in loving memory are suggested to the
American Cancer Society.
