Herman Long Obituary
Born in Cumberland, MD, on January 28, 1946, he was the son of the late Herman H. Long, Sr. and Ruth G. (Clark) Long. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Angela Long, Lois Kesner and husband, Martin, and Donna Snyder.
Junior was a graduate of Ft. Ashby High School, class of 1964. Following high school, Junior worked on the family farm. He was later employed by the West Virginia Highway Administration, retiring from that position in 1993.
Junior liked to hunt in the hills of West Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sue Ella (Welsh) Long; children, Andrea Richardson and husband, Rob, and Charles Long and fiancée, Kelsey Alt; grandchildren, Skylar Long, Trynleigh Alt, and Alydia Long, and the family is expecting a new granddaughter who will be named Millison; brother-in-law, Carl Snyder. Junior is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family will receive friends at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 2-5 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, May 23, 2022 at 1 P.M. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
