Herman "Speed" Clifford Trudeau, age 80, of Armstrong Creek, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family while under the compassionate care of Moments Hospice.
Born on December 13, 1944, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Speed was the son of Edward and Irene (Haack) Trudeau. He spent his career working as a painter, retiring in 2006. After retirement, he moved to what was once his vacation retreat in Armstrong Creek permanently in 2012, where he spent his later years enjoying the quiet beauty of the Northwoods.
Speed lived a full and spirited life. He had a deep love for the outdoors - fishing on Lake Metonga in Crandon, deer hunting, four-wheeling, and picking wild raspberries and blackberries were among his favorite pastimes. A true character, he was known for his love of karaoke, teasing his children and grandchildren, and his skill at the pool table - a self-proclaimed pool shark. He especially enjoyed feeding the deer and squirrels in his backyard, finding peace in nature and joy in the simple things.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Barbara; his daughters Stacy Heuer (Paul), Robin Beyer (Scott), and Sarah Schaffer (Ryan); his grandchildren Danielle (Joel) Janasik, Samantha (Ryan) McVickar, Brooke Beyer (Taylor), Taylor Shaffer (Sami), Garrett Schaffer, Nathan Schaffer, Katana Heuer, and Karissa (Austin) Mitchell; and great-grandchildren Raylynn, Cooper, Beckett, Ellie, Caleb, Bella, Warren, Hendrix, and Cala. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Maxine Trudeau and Maxine Trudeau.
Speed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Irene; his sisters Bonnie Van Gompel and Beverly Trudeau; and his brothers Edward, Richard, Harold (Kristie), and Tony Trudeau.
Honoring Speed's wishes, no formal services will be held.
