Mary Zoe Graves, age 75, passed away peacefully with her loving son by her side on October 6, 2025, while under the care of Heartland Hospice at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King.
Born on June 2, 1950, to the late Rowland and Della (Vander Walker) Sackett at her family's home in Carter, Wisconsin, Mary was a lifelong resident of Wabeno. She dedicated over 35 years of service to the Wabeno School District, where she worked as the school secretary-a role she took great pride in and through which she formed many lasting friendships.
Mary had a deep love for the simple joys in life. She enjoyed puzzles, shopping-especially trips to Wal-Mart-and feeding the wildlife, including squirrels and birds. A festive spirit, Mary loved decorating for the holidays, particularly Christmas. After moving to her apartment complex, she delighted in decorating the common areas for her fellow residents to enjoy. Even after moving to the nursing home, her greatest joy was being able to be with her son Chris everyday and the time spent with visiting family and friends.
Mary's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the aides at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, especially Melissa and Nicki, for their love, compassion, and care during her final months.
She is survived by her son, Chris Hupf; grandson, Mitchell Hupf (fiancée Faith Neumann); brother, Pete Sackett; sister-in-law, Joan Sackett; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Mary Graves; stepdaughter, Peggy Graves; and special cousins, Diane (Dennis) Jung and Pam (Dennis) Sherrick. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ron Graves; her parents; her sister, Sandy Lowery; brother, Ronald Sackett; and stepdaughter, Michelle Graves.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Weber-Hill & Packard Funeral Home in Wabeno, with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Wesley "Bo" Baumeister will officiate.
