Scott Elira Shaffer, affectionately known as "Scooter," age 68, of Wabeno, passed away peacefully with his children by his side while under the care of Compassus Hospice.

Born on December 28, 1956, in Laona to David and Anna (Clark) Shaffer, Scott dedicated his life to serving his community and cherishing the outdoors. A proud lifelong resident of Wabeno, he served on the County Board and was a respected member of the Wabeno Fire Department for over 40 years, including 34 years as Fire Chief. His deep commitment to public service and his town was unwavering.

Scott married the love of his life, Lynn Lingle, on April 2, 1983. She preceded him in death, and they are now reunited.

He retired after 19 years as a maintenance worker for the Town of Wabeno and drove semi for Piontek Brothers Trucking for many years prior. In his free time, Scott enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and riding his Harley Davidson with friends. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his granddaughter, Audrey.

Scott is survived by his sons, Scott Shaffer Jr. and David Shaffer; his sisters Shirley Humburg and Sally (Scott) Clark; his brother Steve (Lynette) Shaffer; and his cherished granddaughter, Audrey. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lynn; and his sister, Sandy Vajgrt.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Larger Parish Presbyterian Church in Wabeno. Pastor Jack Peters will preside.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Wabeno Fire Department in honor of Scooter's legacy of service.
