Gwenneth Gorr Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Weber-Hill & Packard Funeral Home - Crandon on Oct. 1, 2025.
Gwenneth Viola Gorr, age 92, formerly of Long Lake, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, at The Bay at NuRoc Health and Rehabilitation.
Gwenneth was born on November 20, 1932, in Whitney, Oxfordshire, England to the late Thomas and Violet (Pearce) Hughes. During World War II, she met the love of her life, Burnette Gorr, while he was stationed in England. They married on August 11, 1951, in England, and welcomed their first child, Peter, before relocating to Burnette's hometown of Newald, Wisconsin, when Peter was nine months old. Eventually, the family settled in Long Lake, where Gwenneth and Burnett raised their nine children.
A devoted homemaker, Gwenneth took great pride in caring for her family. Her days were filled with cooking, baking, cleaning, and ironing - not only for her own household but often for others in the community as well. When her children were older, she worked for many years at the Goodman Veneer Mill.
Gwenneth will be remembered for her generous spirit and tireless work ethic. She was a talented homemaker who enjoyed sewing, knitting, and tending to her large garden. She had a knack for baking - never using a recipe - and her homemade bread and famous Apple Jacks were beloved by all who knew her. She also loved berry picking, canning, and sharing the fruits of her labor with family and friends.
Gwenneth is survived by her children: Peter (Patti) Gorr, Paul Gorr, Linda (Tom) Cleereman, Tom (Lee) Gorr, Vicki (Bob) Cleereman, Gwenda Dantoin, Keith Gorr, and Shelly Criel; 18 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Burnette Gorr; her son, Jim Gorr; her parents, Thomas and Violet Hughes, siblings, Eileen, Ted, John and Keith.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at St. Hubert's Catholic Church in Newald, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the start of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., with Father John Cerkas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Newald.
Gwenneth's legacy of love, strength, and service to others will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
