Hermila Gonzales, 93, of Monahans, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, in Monahans.
Hermila was born on May 13, 1932, in Ojinaga, Mexico, to Cecilio Navarrete and Maria Molinar Navarrete. She later made her home in Monahans, Texas. A devoted homemaker, Hermila found great joy in serving others through her kindness, generosity, and nurturing spirit.
A faithful member of the Catholic faith and the Sacred Heart Organization, Hermila’s life was guided by her strong devotion to God and family. She cherished simple pleasures and meaningful traditions. She loved cooking and baking, especially preparing empanadas for those she loved. Hermila also enjoyed tending to roses, spending time at the beauty shop, and surrounding herself with family and friends. Her home was often filled with laughter, delicious food, and the comfort she so naturally provided for others.
Hermila was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved spouse, Feliciano Gonzales; her siblings, Juana Salgado, Antonia Montes, Anita Ramirez, Eva Valles, Guillermo Navarrette, Adan Navarrette, and Mike Navarrette.
She is survived by her siblings, Santos Navarrette, Ramon Navarrette, Dominga Mejia, Faustina Nunez; numerous nieces and nephews; along with extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Hermila will be remembered for her gentle heart, strong faith, and the countless ways she cared for those around her. Her legacy of love, faith, and devotion to family will continue to live on in all who knew her.
