Herminio Ebarvia Valdeabella, age 71, passed away the February 4th, 2025, while vacationing in the Philippines. He suffered from pneumonia and dengue fever when he passed away at Notre Dame de Chartres Hospital in Baguio City.
Herminio was born April 13th, 1953, to Marcial and Leonor Valdeabella. He grew up in Lumban, Laguna, Philippines and was the oldest of six children. He cared so deeply for his five siblings - Emma, Donato, Merlyn, Marcial Jr., and Francis. He was immensely generous and always looked out for his younger siblings, making sure they were always taken care of.
Growing up, he had various jobs, one of which was as a tailor in Baguio City. It was there where he met the love of his life, Corazon Jovero. They married in a civil wedding on June 9th, 1977, followed by a church wedding on April 8th, 1978. Together they had four children.
He graduated from Lumban Academy, and attended the University of Baguio, but shortly enlisted in the United States Navy in 1976.
Herminio served in the U.S. Navy, first stationed at the Naval Station Subic Bay, Philippines, then settling in California in 1984. He finalized his military career at Naval Air Station Lemoore and retired as a Chief Petty Officer on June 30th, 1996, after serving a total of twenty years in the United States Navy.
He continued his career as a Mail Carrier for the United States Postal Service for seventeen years and officially retired in 2015. He enjoyed the remainder of his years playing golf, spending time and caring for his grandchildren, and going to his "happy place" casinos. He was a loyal Raiders fan, NASCAR enthusiast, and enjoyed listening to various types of music such as classical, marching/military music, the Beatles and James Taylor.
He was a devout Catholic, serving as an altar server when he was young in his hometown and sang in various church choirs as an adult.
Herminio was also a dedicated Master to the Masonic Welcome Lodge, #255, holding high principles of fraternity, charity, and brotherly love.
As a Filipino-American, Herminio actively participated in supporting the Filipino culture and community in Kings County.
Among his many avenues, Herminio could not be in any location without seeing someone who knew him, also because no one can overlook his white head of hair. His indescribable humor, attention to others, selfless heart, and charismatic personality will always leave an impact on those who knew him. If something was important to you, it was important to him too.
Herminio is survived by his wife, Corazon; daughter Precious Casal and spouse Francis Casal; son Ryan Valdeabella and spouse Mina Valdeabella; son Warren Valdeabella and spouse Jennifer Valdeabella; son James Valdeabella; four grandchildren - Chloe Casal, Evan Valdeabella, Leia Valdeabella, and Penelope Casal.
A viewing service for Herminio will be held on Wednesday, February 19th, 5:00-8:00pm at Phipps-Dale Funeral Chapel. His funeral will take place on Thursday, February 20th, 10:00am - Rosary, 10:30am - Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church - Lemoore, with burial to follow at Lemoore Cemetery. A reception will proceed at the Masonic Welcome Lodge, Lemoore.
