Hershel William Clark, age 94, of Moberly, MO passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, December 29, 2024.

Hershel was born on April 27, 1930, in Stover, MO, to Dewey and Anna Belle (Woods) Clark. He met and married Gladys Oliver of Cairo, MO, on October 31, 1953, and they celebrated 53 years together before her passing.

He worked many jobs throughout his life. He worked with his uncle Edward driving a truck, Armors in Kansas City, hauled hay, worked on the farm and whatever he needed to provide for his family. His last job was with A.B. Chance where he retired after 37 years. He also served in the U.S. Navy where his was honorably discharged.

Hershel’s legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the memories he created with family and friends. He was a devoted family man who always put the needs of others before his own. He had a kind spirit and a generous heart. He loved celebrating birthdays and holidays with family and friends, especially Christmas with last-minute shopping. His love, wisdom and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Glayds; his mom and dad, Dewey and Anna Clark; brothers, Charles Clark, Richard Clark, Freddie Clark and Robert Clark; sisters-in-law, Myra Clark, Peggy Clark and Lula Clark; brother-in-law, Clarence Gordon; and son-in-law, Wayne Mellon.

Hershel is survived by his five children, Edward Leon Clark, Susan Mellon, Randy (Becky) Clark, Debbie (Ed) Richardson and Roger Clark; sisters, Hazel Gordon, Louise (Jody) Perkins; brother, Donald Clark (Mary Spencer); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service honoring Hershel is scheduled for Monday, January 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO. Visitation will be held before the service from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Higbee Cemetery in Higbee, MO. 

Local arrangements are under the direction of Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, 411 Union Avenue, Moberly, MO 65270 (660)263-7284. Condolences may be left online for the family at www.pathwaymemorial.com.
