Hester Cain Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Mar. 30, 2023.
Hester Lee Cain was born November 4, 1931, to Lula and Herman Davis in their home in Niangua, Missouri. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 27, 2023.
Hester grew up on the family farm and worked alongside her family. On September 23, 1951 she married her high school sweetheart, Joe Cain, in San Antonio, Texas, where Joe was stationed in the Army. They were assigned to Hawaii where they had the first of their three daughters, Debra Jo. Later the family grew to include Brenda Jean and Janna Lea.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband of 46 years, Joe Cain; her daughters Jo Roebke and Jean Campbell Vogt. She also had nine brothers and sisters, all of whom preceded her in death.
Hester was a loving and devoted mother to her family and is survived by her daughter Jan (Doug) Bloch, son -in-law Mike (Jane) Roebke; 7 grandchildren, Annie (Jon) Hymer, Connie (Nathan) Merrill, Jessica (Daron) Hoft, Julianna (Justin) Williamson, Andrew Cameron, Trevor and Trenton Roebke; 10 great-grandchildren, Leah and Sara Hymer, Hannah, Malachi, Elijah, and Skylar Merrill, Silas and Rory Hoft, Lacy and Lizzy Williamson; plus many wonderful nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
There is something quite lovely in a simple and humble soul. She was not a great public figure, never in the public eye, yet she kindled the family's hearts through the love, care and service to those in the home. She was beloved for her diligence in the face of difficulties, her generous nature, compassion, and courage. She seldom missed a ballgame or school function and made many costumes and dresses. In addition, she was well-known as an artist of beautiful quilts, oil portraits, other colorful creations for the home; and as a chef for family favorites of Chicken-n-Dumplings, Apple Dumplings, and Monkey Bread. Known as "Mom," "Grandma," and "friend." She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Our family extends a heartfelt thanks to The Fremont's many friends and staff. God's hand was evident as the love and compassion were so freely given throughout her time there.
In lieu of flowers, take a moment to bask in the sun, smell the flowers, or enjoy a gentle rain as you remember God's gift of the gentle, loving spirit of Hester Cain. Private Graveside Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2023 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev Nathan Merrill officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation.
