Delano R. Cain, of Bridgewater, passed away on January 31, 2026. He was 92. Delano, affectionately known as Del, grew up in Dorchester and lived in Randolph for over 25 years before moving to Bridgewater. He was a resident of the High Pond Community, where he was blessed with neighbors and friends whom he enjoyed lending a hand to whenever he could.
Del proudly served in the US Army from 1953-1955 and went on to have a successful career as a Randolph firefighter for over 20 years, retiring as Acting Deputy Chief. He was especially proud of winning Firefighter of the Year for his authorship of the "History of the Randolph Fire Department" in 1975. While serving the community as a firefighter, Del also owned and operated Cain Real Estate for 20 years and sat on the Brockton Board of Realtors.
In addition to his home in Bridgewater, Del and his family spent summers in Mashpee and winters in Fort Myers. As a man of many talents, he renovated both homes in Randolph and Mashpee. Free time was spent walking the beach, family game nights playing dominos, and square dancing. He will be remembered for his caretaking nature, love of his family and being a true gentleman.
Beloved husband of 72 years to Mary (Haskell) Cain of Bridgewater. Devoted father of Christine McCabe and her husband Michael of Bridgewater, Eileen Grinham and her late husband Daniel of Middleboro and William Cain and his late partner Steve Carbone of Mashpee. Cherished Grandpa of Paul Grinham and his wife Tara, Scott McCabe, Emily McCabe, and the late Brian Grinham. Great-Grandpa G to Makenzie Santos.
