Jean Williams Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 20, 2026.
Jean E. Williams (MacRae), 84, formerly of North Dartmouth and Bridgewater, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19th, surrounded by her loving family. Born to Dorothy Cole and Forbes MacRae of East Bridgewater, Jean was a proud graduate of New Bedford High School and Southeastern Massachusetts University ("SMU"). Prior to attending SMU, she was a licensed hairdresser and worked in the hair salon at the Star Store in downtown New Bedford before leaving the workforce to raise her family.

For 58 beautiful years, Jean shared her life with her beloved husband, Lee Williams. Together they built a warm and vibrant home in North Dartmouth, where they raised their four children, hosted many gatherings, celebrated many occasions and became deeply rooted in the community.

Jean dedicated much of her time to service including raising her children, caring for her six grandchildren, volunteering in the Dartmouth Public Schools, fundraising for Saint Julie's Church, and offering companionship and care to elderly members of the community. Alongside her husband, she developed residential real estate throughout the greater Bridgewater area for more than forty years.

In 2020, Jean and Lee moved to Bridgewater, where they treasured joyful moments with their children and grandchildren. Jean found happiness in life's simple pleasures-spending time with her family, being on the ocean including the beaches of Westport and Dartmouth, summer camping trips to Horseneck Beach, reading, walking, gardening, and listening to music. Every year she looked forward to celebrating family birthdays. Christmas was a favorite time of year for Jean, as her home was always filled with family and the great love she had for them. She also loved seafood and enjoyed sampling the many fine seafood restaurants on the Southcoast. She always had a special place in her heart for her French Papillon, Laddie. Jean will be remembered most for her remarkable strength, sharp wit, intellect, loyalty, and the unwavering love and support she offered to her family.

Jean is survived by her husband, Lee Williams; her daughter Lisa Martins and husband, Jeff, of Rehoboth; her son Lee Williams II and wife, Michelle, of Bridgewater; her son Landen Williams and wife, Sarah, of Wellesley; her son Lindsey Williams of South Dartmouth; and her cherished grandchildren Mairin, Colin, Lee (III), Brady, Cole, and Griffin Williams. She also leaves behind her brothers in law, Raymond Williams of Florida and Louis Skinner of Cape Cod, along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Jean was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Skinner.

Services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jean's memory may be made to the Dementia Society of America or the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
