Hetty was the beloved wife of Robert (Bob) William Meyer, Sr., whom she married on April 25, 1970. Bob passed away on March 12, 2025. Together, they created a loving home and family.
She is survived by her three children: Laura Meyer; Megan Meyer; and Rob Meyer; nephews Matt and Zach Calloway; her brother-in-law, Steve Meyer, his wife Tara, and their daughter Emily Meyer Connery and her family; her brother-in-law, Allan Meyer, his wife Dawn, and their two children and their families, Heather Meyer Lampp and Joanna Meyer Hamrick; her cousin Linda Mayhall and her family; her cousin Har Nal Kaur Khalsa and her family; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lena Roberts, and her sister, Janet Calloway, and Janet's husband, Huel Calloway.
Hetty dedicated 22 years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas and a Master of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. She began her career in Alvin, Texas, for six years and then continued her passion in
Georgetown, Texas, for sixteen years before retiring in May 2011. Hetty held certifications in Early Childhood Education, English as a Second Language, and Special Education, demonstrating her commitment to meeting the diverse needs of her students.
Beyond her rewarding career, Hetty cherished building and nurturing relationships with her family, friends, coworkers, and students. She was a creative soul who enjoyed ceramics, crafting Christmas decorations, and quilting.
Her involvement in the church community was significant, as she volunteered in various roles at Clear Lake United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas, Georgetown United Methodist Church, and finally at Cross Tracks Church in Liberty Hill, Texas. At Cross Tracks, she fulfilled a lifelong dream of singing with the choir. She was also actively involved in anything her children pursued.
Hetty will be remembered for her ever-present smile, her kind words for everyone she met, and her deep love for her family. She had a gift for lifting others up and possessed a secret sense of humor that she shared with her closest loved ones.
