Funeral service for Hila Poole, age 85, of Winnsboro, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025 at Hepsibah Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Texas with Bro. Perry Shirley officiating. Tom Friday and Scott Darby will assist with the service. Interment will follow at Maple Springs Cemetery in Leesburg, Texas with Nathanael Friday, Jacob Poole, Jonah Fuller, Monty Fuller, Ricky Alexander, and Kenny Alexander serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Allen and Gary Thacker. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Hepsibah Baptist Church. Ms. Poole passed away in Scroggins, Texas on Friday, September 5, 2025.
Hila Horton Poole was born July 18, 1940 in Rusk County, Texas at home in an oil field camp outside of Price, Texas, to John and Mary Horton. Hila was born again in July, 1956 in the living room of her pastor, C.W. Pilgrim, when she was 16 years old. Hila married Jerry Poole, in June of 1956.
Memaw will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Her wit and love for life will always be a special memory. Many will miss her in-depth Bible knowledge along with her Bible teaching.
Hila is survived by one daughter, Julie Poole Friday and her husband Tom, along with four grandchildren; Joshua Poole, Amber Friday, Jacob Poole, and Nathanael Friday. Memaw is also survived by five great-grandchildren; Madison Poole, Jaxon Poole, Kade Friday, Riely Poole, and Reagan Poole.
Hila was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Poole; parents, John and Mary Horton; and her son, Johnny Poole.
