Mr. Michael Earl Poole, 63, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
He was born on November 6, 1962 in Los Banos, California to Mr. Bennie Lee Poole and Dorothy Mae (Cheek) Poole.
Michael spent his early life in Flint, Michigan where he attended Flint Community Schools but spent the majority of his adult life in Salina. For many years, he worked as an electrician.
Michael enjoyed spending time with friends and watching sports. He also loved westerns, singing, and cooking. Known for his sense of humor, Michael thought of himself as a comedian and often laughed harder than anyone else at his own jokes. Pinto beans and cornbread were his favorite meal—enjoyed so much that he ate them nearly every day. Michael also had a special place in his heart for his beloved fur baby, Winnie.
Left to cherish his memories is his longtime devoted and special lady, Sonya Allen; and children: Chelsea Flowers of Kansas City, Missouri, Tierra Drake (Bryan) of Wichita, Kansas, and Mr. Torrance Gilbert of Dallas, Texas.
Brothers: Bennie Poole (Cynthia) of Mansfield, Texas, Kenneth Poole (Shan) of Desoto, Texas, Gary Poole (Jenny) of Meridian, Mississippi; and three sisters: Shirley Galloway of Salina, Kansas, Barbara Poole-Brown, and Janet Poole-Little (John) of Flint, Michigan.
He is also survived by grandchildren: SaRayah, Darius, and SaNiyah Gilbert, Charlotte and Charlise Bullock, and Olivia and Jasmine Gilbert.
Special thanks to: Angela and Tasha Brown, Tierra and Bryan Drake, Pastor Allen and the St. John Baptist Church family, and the 3 South nurses and doctors at Salina Regional Health Center for their care and compassion.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home in Salina, Kansas.
The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina.
