Hilda Alicia Torres Acuna

Mrs. Hilda Alicia Acuna, 80, of Valdese, passed away on Monday July 5, 2021 at her residence. Hilda was born on November 18, 1940 in Jayuya, Puerto Rico to the late Geronimo Torres and Teresa Lopez Torres. She was previously employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse working with special needs children over the years. She loved spending most of her time relaxing on her front porch, enjoying the nature around her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a husband, John Clements Betancourt Jr. and her youngest son, Carlos Antonio Acuna, whose loss is still felt to this day. Survivors include her four children; David Craig Betancourt, Robert Wayne Betancourt and wife Lin, and Debra Anne Betancourt Kirk and husband Robert, all of Los Angeles, CA and John Betancourt and wife Linda of Valdese. Also surviving is a sister, Carmen Delgado of Texas, eleven grandchildren; Westley, Justin, Vanessa, Meghan, Beau, Brandon, Celina, Marisa, Kayleigh, Joshua, and Lauren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with her first cousin, Pastor Eugene Torres officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
