Hilda Liebal Obituary
Mom was born on December 19, 1927 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to Fred and Florine Olson. On July 20, 1947 she married the love of her life, Jack Liebal, after he returned from WWII. They met on a blind date and it was love at first sight.
She is survived by her sister, Patsy Ann Gray, and her eight children all raised under God's watch -- John Liebal (Diane), Judy Cornell (Larry), Earl Liebal (Teresa), Linda Binkley (Rick), Mark Liebal (Linda), Keith Liebal, Kim Liebal (Rose) and Gloria Liebal. Our Mom is also survived by a total of twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Mom was a housewife and waitress when we were young. Later, she co-owned Sportsman's Lounge – Mr. Pizza on Kirkwood Hwy with her sister, Patsy.
Growing up we all enjoyed Mom's special projects for Dad. She was constantly changing her mind along the way making every project a lingering work-in-process. We enjoyed watching all the different project dramas.
Mom loved the beach, and we had a place near Cape May for many years. She loved to play scrabble (she won most of the games) as well as the slots at Delaware Park. She and Dad traveled after their children were raised. After Dad passed, Mom enjoyed watching the TV preachers every Sunday and old movies during the week.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington DE 19808. Interment will be held in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Hilda's name may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 4210 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
