Hilda Ann Maynard

Hilda Ann Maynard, born on October 27, 1934, in Shawnee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, in New Albany, Ohio. Hilda, a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, was known for her unwavering love for her family and friends, as well as her strong Christian faith.

A proud member of the Class of 1953 at Parma Schaaf High School, Hilda embraced life with a creative spirit. She was passionate about cooking, cake decorating, sewing—often crafting tiny outfits for Barbie dolls—playing computer games, and solving puzzles. Her favorite meals included steak with potatoes and her beloved Sister-in-Law Rickie’s Italian pasta and meatballs. Hilda had a special fondness for country music, enjoying the classic sounds of artists like Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn, alongside old time gospel music.

Hilda’s life was filled with cherished moments, from attending worship services and Bible studies to enjoying Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes football games. She was known for her humorous antics, including throwing a "bad call brick" at the television during games—a gift from her son-in- law, Tim. Her unwavering support for her children and grandchildren was evident in her proudest accomplishments, which included raising her four children: Karen, Susan, Judith, and Jim, and nurturing a large family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In her lifetime, Hilda traveled extensively, visiting nearly every state east and west of the Mississippi River, and she took joy in every place she called home, from Shawnee to Phoenix and Palm Bay. Her warm spirit and firm resolve made her a beloved figure in her community, where she was active in various church congregations and educational organizations.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Eva Anguish, sister Dorothy, brothers William and Terry Anguish, and son-in-law Timothy Hines. Also by first husband, Bill Taylor, in 1969, and her second husband, Glen Maynard, in 2002. She is survived by her children, Karen (Mickey) Szabo, Susan Hines, Judith Trusler, and William James (Jim) Taylor, Glen’s children, Tammy (Dan), Timothy, and Karen Maynard, and by her brother, Bruce George Anguish of Springfield, Ohio. Hilda leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.

Her legacy of love, faith, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Hilda Ann Maynard will be remembered not only for her strength and creative spirit but also for the countless lives she touched through her kindness and unwavering faith in God.
