Hilda A. Utiss peacefully passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, in Pittsburgh, at the age of 94, surrounded by her family. Born Aug. 5, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Hilda was the beloved daughter of the late Eleanora and George F. Wagner. Throughout her life, Hilda made significant contributions to her community. She served as the Blawnox Borough secretary, dedicating her time and skills to ensure the smooth functioning of the borough. Hilda also selflessly volunteered at St. Margaret's Hospital, where she provided compassionate care and support to patients in need. Hilda leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her devoted sons, Steven Utiss (Nancy) and Kenneth Utiss (Debbie); as well as her caring daughters, Donna Hill (Porter) and Beth Rembert; grandchildren, Dennis Rembert (Courtney) Jessica Lohrey (Kevin) and Shannon Rembert (Jeremy); and great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Isabella, Ada, Dennis IV and Hildie. Hilda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve Utiss; and six siblings, Raymond, Loretta, Alberta, Bernard, Dorothy and Isabel. She was also preceded in death by her loving friends, Bill Haberstich and Carl Schnelle. Hilda will be remembered by all for her unbridled zest for life, her unique character and quick wit. The funeral arrangements for Hilda Utiss are being handled by THOMAS M. SMITH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY LTD., located in Pittsburgh, Pa. (15238). Interment will be private.
