Hilde McCoy Obituary
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest on Saturday, April 12, 2025, Mrs. Hilde McCoy, 89, loving wife of 57 years to the late David E. McCoy.
Hilde was born in Tuckelhausen, Germany to the late Ludwig and Franzika Breitenberger. She met her husband while he was stationed in Germany and returned with him to the United States, where they raised a family. A natural caregiver, Hilde retired as a nurse and became an active volunteer with her husband in later years. In her spare time, she enjoyed sharing German cuisine by cooking and baking for family. Hilde was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Hilde was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing her.
Family members include her sons: David A. McCoy (Terry Shier) and Thomas F. McCoy; grandson: Forrest McCoy (Alisha); brother: Albert Breitenberger (Inge); sister: Sigrid Zelder (Raimund); and her loving caregivers: Iris Jones and Jeanette Sullivan.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://donorservices.alz.org/ .
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M., at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907 (706) 364-8484.
