Hildegard Mehlhaff

Hildegard Melhlhaff, 93, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Good Samaritan Society in Scotland, SD.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 28 at Goglin Funeral Home in Scotland. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Burial will be 4:00 p.m. at Grace Hill Cemetery in Tripp.

Hildegard was born on February 23, 1932, to Fred and Martha Fischer. She married Marvin Mehlhaff on August 16, 1953 in Menno, SD.

Hildegard and Marvin had six children. She was a stay-at-home mom until 1968 when she began working at Dale Electronics in Yankton, SD. She worked there for 27 years and then retired.

She came to know Jesus personally in 1972. There after she joined the Auxiliary of the Gideons International on May 14, 1974. She held many offices but her favorite part was placing Bibles in medical facilities and sharing the Gospel with female inmates at the jail.

She loved camping, fishing, gardening, and wintering in Texas.

Hildegard is survived by her brother, Gebhart (Marcella) Fischer of Menno, SD; sister, Bertha (Elton) Mettler of Menno, SD; sister-in-law, Ruby Fischer of Scotland, SD; daughter, Judy (Dennis) Frey of Fulton, SD; son-in-law, Dave Rempfer of Freeman, SD; son, Mike Mehlhaff of Eustace, TX; daughter, Carol Mehlhaff (Jeff Johnson) of Mission Hill, SD; daughter, Nancy (Charles) Leonard of Gayville, SD; daughter, Patricia (Brian) Garvis of Sioux Falls, SD; also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Mehlhaff and daughter, Barb Rempfer.

The family requests that gifts be directed to The Gideons International, in place of flowers.
