Born in Oconee County, Georgia, she later grew up in Greene County, Georgia. She worked in Union Point, Georgia until she married Roy Lowe Rogers on January 20, 1948. Roy and Hildred were blessed with three children. Roy was in the Air Force, so they, with their precious children in tow, moved around the US and Europe. Roy and Hildred, along with their children, became members of the Northview United Methodist Church. Later in Life, Hildred would move her membership to Trinity United Methodist Church where she attended faithfully and became a class member of the Asbury Sunday School Class.
In December of 2015, no longer able to live alone, Hildred moves into Summer’s Landing of Warner Robins. She enjoyed doing crafts and other activities while there. Hilda, as she was known to the residents and workers, made many friends during her time at Summer’s Landing. Hilda loved the community at Summer’s Landing and began attending Summer’s Landing Church every Sunday. After several falls and injuries, she moved to Life Springs Community long term care in June 2024.
Hildred and Roy celebrated 25 years together before his passing May 1973. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Rachel Sorrow Taylor, Mae Sorrow Channell, and Ada Sorrow Mullis; brothers, Warren Sorrow and Bob Sorrow; along with son-in-law, Larry Duvall; grandsons, Mark Dennis, Danny Duvall, Michael Duvall; and great-granddaughter, Danielle Duvall.
Left to cherish the memories of a loving and devoted mother and grandmother are her three children, Esther Crowe (Charles), Robert L. Rogers, and Pamula Duvall; grandson, Chris Dennis (Celeste); and great-grandsons, C.J. Dennis and Army Captain Jesse Dennis. Hildred also leaves behind two brothers, Rupert Sorrow (Irene) of Temple, Texas and Edward Sorrow of Monroe County, Georgia; as well as several great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
