Major Hollie Anne (Allnatt) Ruthberg was Promoted to Glory on Sunday morning September 29, 2024, from her lifetime vacation home at Hatch Lake in Eaton, New York. She was a member of "The Evangelists" session from 1967-1969. Hollie was on palliative care under hospice direction by our daughter-in-law, Lisa Ruthberg, (son, Brett), her sister, Lindsay Webb, and sister-in-law, Carol Ruthberg.
Major Hollie was truly a Renaissance a woman who was interested in and knew a lot about many things. She enjoyed teaching music and playing (piano and instrumental), conducting songster (choirs), cooking, baking, sewing, designing and making costumes, and planning for various worship events. She "touched the lives of many people through her life, music, and writings. Her arrangements of Sunday School Choruses in The Salvation Army music publication, "Sunday School Choruses for Young Bands" continues to be a most valuable resource for young Salvationist musicians.
There will be a Celebration of Life and Holiness in the Greater New York area in the spring of 2025 and in the Saint Petersburg, Florida area sometime in the Fall 2024 or Winter 2025 at a location to be announced. The family is asking that no flowers be sent but rather consider a gift to a Memorial Scholarship in her name to The Salvation Army, earmarked: towards the Territorial Arts Ministry Conservatory (TAM-C) at 440 West Nyack Road, Nyack, NY 10994 or to a link that will be announced.
Direct all texts to her husband, Carl Ruthberg (Butch) at 646-895-0182 or emails at [email protected] or [email protected].
Her grandfather, Reverend Charles B. Allnatt (Honorine) built their camp/cottage 100 years ago. Over the years, her father, Reverend Donald Allnatt (Mary), also added to the property. Hollie and her husband Carl are retired Salvation Army Officers and Pastors. They served in various appointments in New York and Ohio for over 46 years.
In marriage she began her ministry in Port Jervis, New York; and continued to Poughkeepsie, New York; Sandusky (Norwalk) and Cleveland, Ohio; East Harlem in New York City; Cincinnati, Ohio, Cleveland (Hough Center), Ohio and Times Square (Hell's Kitchen) New York City, Ithaca, New York, and finally at the Army's Territorial Center in West Nyack, New York.
Hollie has Bachelors in Music (MusB) from Houghton College.
She is a published author of four (4) books. Available through Amazon.
They have two grown children, Erica (predeceased) and Brett (Lisa) in Charlotte, North Carolina, and five (5) grandchildren.
She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Carl, a sister, Mrs. Lindsay Webb (Daniel) of Brownsville, NY, a brother, Scott F. Allnatt (Hope) of Ithaca, New York and many nieces and nephews.
Hollie helped to organize the family services for supportive services at Pier 94 following the September 11, 2001, disaster.
Funeral and Cremation arrangements were made by Burgess and Tedesco, 31 Cedar Street, Morrisville, New York 13408. ([email protected]).
To God be the Glory.

Dear Carl and family- so sorry to hear of the passing of my (first) cousin (once removed). I am back on the mission field so some of the information for you is blocked from here. I will miss our communications and keeping up on that branch of the family. Please reach out to me if you get a chance and if you have that contact information. I was blessed to have known Hollie and still remember with fondness our chance to be with you at the lake. So glad that she had family to care for her in her last days on earth. Sandy (Mosenthin) Kolva

Hollie used to bring 2 jars of jam she and Carl canned before they left to go north for the summer; one for our Community Manager and one for me, the Assistant. She was always very pleasant and kind. She will be missed for sure.
