Homer Miller, age 90, passed away June 16, 2024, at his home in Statesboro, Georgia. He was born in Savannah, Georgia. Homer was raised in Pembroke, Georgia and was a graduate of Bryan County High School. Homer proudly served his country in the Navy, and then went on to work for the Georgia Department of Transportation for 32 years as an engineer. He was described as having a “green thumb”, as he enjoyed tending to his yard and garden. He also enjoyed working on engines and old cars.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Oliff Miller and Willie Gatch Miller; wife, Willa Dene Miller; and 3 siblings.
He is survived by his sons, James Robert “Bob” Miller, Ernest Wayne (Mary) Miller; his sister, Ruth Lee; grandchildren, Sean (Morgan) Miller, Justin Miller, and Ashlee Miller (Austin Clark) as well as one great-grandchild Morgan Clark.
Pallbearers are Sean Miller, Justin Miller, Buddy Oglesby, Sammy Oglesby, Frank Lee, and Matt Rowe.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, from 10:00AM-11:30AM followed by the funeral services in the Chapel of Deal Funeral Directors with Pastor Patrick McElveen officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, with special thanks to Sheila Hotchkiss and her care givers.
