Honorah "Honey" Fleming Hinkle

July 1941 - January 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Honorah Hinkle, lovingly known as "Honey" to family and friends and " Noie" to her grandchildren. She left this world surrounded by love and care, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and devotion to family and community.

Born in July 1941 to William Fleming and Honorah McCormack Fleming, Honey was the first of eight children. Growing up in a family that valued kindness and connection, she dedicated 32 years to teaching young children at Marlboro Elementary School, where she found deep gratification in shaping young minds.

After retiring, Honey embraced her lifelong love of art. She became an active member of the Hudson Valley Decorative Painters and several local artist groups, often sharing her work at the East Fishkill Public Library. Her hand-painted Christmas ornaments became cherished keepsakes for family and friends-a tradition that reflected her creativity and her desire to bring beauty into the lives of others.

Honey also treasured time with friends. Whether gathered around a mahjong table, walking with companions, or joining exercise groups, she found joy in connections. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life; she was a charter member of the original Blessed Kateri chapel, which later became Saint Kateri Church in Hopewell Junction, NY-a community that remained close to her heart.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charlie Hinkle; brothers Joe and baby Stephen Xavier; sister Beth (Jim) McGill; sister-in-law Susie Fleming; stepdaughter Betsy (George) Brandt; great granddaughters Skylar Rose Fitzpatrick and Maddie Farr. She is survived by siblings Bill (Lynn) Fleming, Marie (Chuck) Tattersall, Trudy Fleming, and Xav Fleming; stepdaughters Terri Farr, Dawn (Bobby) Fitzpatrick, Anne Hinkle and Jeannie Jackson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and dozens of multi-generational nieces, nephews, and cousins who adored her.

Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff and volunteers of Hudson Valley Hospice, the Hudson Valley Hospice House, and Dr. Edward Schneider and his wife Sheila for their exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hudson Valley Hospice House, 542 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538 in view of the outstanding care provided to Honey.

Honey's life was a beautiful testament to love, generosity, and creativity. She touched countless hearts and leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Shortly before her passing, her brother Bill shared these words with her:"You are good. You are loving and loved. You are kind, compassionate, and generous. Now the best you can do is to keep being yourself. Honey, you have spread so much love."

May her life be an example, her memory a blessing, and her spirit live on in the kindness we share with one another.

A celebration of Honorah 's life will be on Friday, February 20, 2026 at McHoul Funeral Home Inc. 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY from 2PM - 4PM and 6PM - 8PM. I would love to send my deepest condolences to the family. Honey was my queen from the moment she came into the Hudson valley Hospice House. There was nothing I wouldn´t do for her. She was the queen and I´m reminded her daily.

She was always very pleasant always had a smile. I fell in love with her than the first day.
