Hope Bothwell Obituary

BOTHWELL, Hope

Hope Weathers Bothwell, 86, of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025.

Hope was born in 1938, in Rome, GA. She was the youngest child of Mr. Frank Clanton Weathers, Sr. and May (Weaver) Weathers. Hope attended Rome High School and went on to graduate from Agnus Scott College, class of 1959. Hope was married to the love of her life, David Sutton Bothwell, for 65 years.

Hope was the definition of human kindness. She served her church, her community and, best of all, her family. Hope was a member of P.E.O, Chapter V, Atlanta, for 35 years. Hope loved to read and belonged to her book club for over 25 years. Hope helped establish the Sardis Preservation Society, (Sardis Presbyterian Church) of Coosa, GA.

Hope was preceded in death by her husband, David; her daughters, Nancy Weaver Bothwell and Mary Evelyn Bothwell; and her grandson, Thomas Weaver Burns. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Bothwell Pluta (Louis John Pluta, Jr.); and her grandchildren, Victoria Hope Hunter, Katherine Alexandra Hunter and William David Burns.

A memorial service will be held at North Decatur Presbyterian Church on April 12, 2025 at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to Sardis Preservation Society, P.O. Box 374, Coosa, GA 30129.

Hope was the epitome of kindness wherever she went.
Her teachings will forever go on through her grandchildren and all she leaves behind ..
She is now with her beloved, David, her husband of 65 years.
