COLUMBIA - Hope Dunham, 89, passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013, from complications of emphysema. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3600 Devine St. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2013, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. A Rosary will precede the visitation at 5:30 p.m. also at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Dunham was born in Wadeville, N.C., and was the daughter of the late Robert E. Greene and Cornelia Robinson. After graduating from high school she immediately went to work at the Montgomery County Draft Board during WWII and continued that work in Charlotte, N.C., through the Korean War. After the birth of her two children she worked in various secretarial positions including with the USC Psychology Department and the Fort Jackson School System. Surviving are her son, Chuck (Deborah) Dunham of Loganville, Ga., and her daughter, Debbie (Harry) Heizer of Irmo, S.C.; five grandchildren: Steven, Troy (Stephanie) and Jonathan Dunham, Trae (Mandy) Heizer and Christy (Brian) Mather; six great-grandchildren: Anna, Josh, Brooke, Vivi, Chase and Bear with two more on the way: Corbin and Tripp; sister, Eunice Scott as well as many nieces and nephews and countless friends who will all miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Charles, who was the love of her life and seven brothers and sisters. While she was an avid lifelong bridge player and enjoyed golf when her health permitted, her great joy in life was her family and friends—especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital. A Tribute Account has been established in Mrs. Dunham's memory. Donations can be sent to Tribute Account 34476559 via phone at 800 822-6344 or by direct mail to: St Jude's Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38148.
