Hope A. Knight (née Atwell), 89, of
Bloomfield Hills, MI, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on March 03, 2026. Hope's life was lived in devotion. For nearly 51 years, she was the beloved wife and companion of the late Robert I. Knight. Together they built a life rooted in family, friends and steadfast love.
Hope was the proud mother of Lynn (Rick) Davis, Dan (Shelley) Knight, Chris (Ann) Knight, Tim (Ellen) St. Aubin, Dave (Cindy) Knight, Teri (Baron) LeBlanc, and Rob (Stacy) Knight. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Anna Kate Atwell, and siblings Joyce, Joe, Carl, Earl, Iris, Kenneth, Ginny and Denny. She leaves behind 20 adoring grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Her role as "Granny" brought her immeasurable happiness, and she leaves them with a legacy of selflessness and compassion. Hope will be sorely missed by all who loved her, but especially by her beloved cat Missy and caregiver Sherri Anderson.
Hope was a woman of immense joy, best known for her remarkable ability to find something worth celebrating in even the simplest moments - whether with a warm hug, a thoughtful gift, an elaborate party, or a glass of chardonnay. She was an exceptional vacation planner who spared no detail and even created her own holiday – Tropical Tuesday – a tradition lovingly carried on for 30 years and counting. She delighted in card games and dinner parties, happy hours at The Giza, puzzles, slot machines and nightly rounds of Wheel of Fortune.
Hope was also cherished for her brightly colored wardrobe and signature "Granny green" flair, both of which reflected the vibrant spirit she brought to every room she entered. She loved to make others smile with simple gestures – especially her grandchildren – be it a "rare" beanie baby, a pack of Skittles, or her signature turkey sandwich after a day at the pool.
Perhaps most importantly, Hope's life was deep-seated in faith. A devoted member of Bloomfield Hills Baptist Church for more than 40 years, she signed every birthday card with the reminder, "Don't forget your prayers!" and kept her Bible close at hand at all times. She was never fond of goodbyes, choosing instead to end every phone call with a gentle "God bless."
Hope's family and friends find great comfort in knowing that her unwavering faith has carried her home, where she now rests in the eternal embrace of her Lord and Savior, reunited with her beloved soulmate.
