Horace Henry Duff, Jr., known affectionately as J.R., peacefully passed away on July 27, 2024 at the age of 81 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green after a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. on October 18, 1942, in Kentucky, J.R. leaves behind a legacy of dedication and service.
Throughout his lifetime, J.R. made meaningful contributions across various sectors. He served with pride in the United States Marine Corps, pursued higher education culminating in a degree from Western Kentucky University, and imparted his knowledge and passion as a committed school teacher. He held roles within the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Social Security Administration for many years. He also worked as an ATF Agent in Cleveland Ohio during 1970.
A cherished member of the Eastside Church of Christ community in Bowling Green, J.R.'s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife Sharon Dillingham-Duff, daughter Jill Duff, son Jason Duff, sister Betty Stinson, brother Darrell Duff, half-brother Allen Wilson, as well as nieces and nephews.
J.R. is now reunited with loved ones who preceded him in passing: his first wife, Janet Duff; father Horace Henry Duff; mother Lois Wilson; sister Darlene Duff; and brothers James Duff and Charles Duff.
A family visitation is scheduled for Sunday, August 4, 2024, from 1-2 p.m., followed by general visitation from 2-4 p.m., culminating in a commemorative service at 4 p.m. In honor of J.R.’s memory, donations to Potter Children's Home in Bowling Green where he served on the Board of Directors for many years. Donations can also be made to Parkinson's Foundation in lieu of flowers.
