Howard L. Bleakley Jr, 87, left this earth on September 10, 2024 as a long time resident of Charlotte, NC to his eternal home with the Lord Jesus Christ.
He was raised and lived in Verplanck, NY. He is predeceased by his parents Howard L. Bleakley, Sr. and Mary Jane Mc Ginnis; two of his sisters : Jacqueline Bleakley Tryon and Sharon Bleakley Kovacs (Frank). Howard is survived by a sister- Denise Bleakley Dini, (Gary) ; and 2 brothers: Bernie Bleakley (Delores) and Rudy Bleakley (June). He is also survived by his three children Debby Bleakley Warren (John), LouAnn Bleakley Perlman (Dan) and Brian Bleakley, Heather and Mitchell Warren, Joshua Perlman (Katie), Leah Perlman Masella (Jon) and 2 great grandchildren Rosalie Perlman and Evelyn Masella. There are also very many nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, and cousins.
Howard served in the US Navy from 1955-1959 on the Albert T Harris, being stationed around the world; a collision in the Mediterranean Sea with an oil tanker; serving in the Cuban Missile Crisis and coming back home to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
He was employed by Standard Coated, IBM in NY and transferred to IBM in NC in 1978. Retiring from IBM in 1992. In order to stay busy, he held various part time jobs - Petro Express; Operation manager of the Charlotte Trolley and finally Marriot where he was known as the "Mayor".
He loved to entertain and cook, hosting family gatherings and parties for friends, and had a strong love for the music of his day. But most of all Howard loved his family- all of them- and took pride in them and their accomplishments.
Visitation will be held from 1-2pm with a Memorial service on site from 2-3pm on Saturday, October 19,
