Howard Grant Gathings

Howard Grant Gathings passed from this earth at his home in Lake Isabella, CA on December 1st, 2025. He was born in Vernon, Texas to Jodie Lee Gathings and Josephine Yvonne Adams on December 30, 1964. Grant was the youngest of five siblings. He moved with his parents and siblings to Bakersfield, Ca in August of 1967. He attended schools in the Oildale area.

As an adult Grant worked in the new construction and remodeling industry. He inherited his father's MacGyver skills. It seemed he could repair almost anything with a paper clip. He loved using his mind to come up with repairs that would function and hold up. And he was amazing at it. Grant spent most of his adult life in the Lake Isabella area. He loved the mountains and the trees.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and his older brother Gerald Gathings. Grant leaves behind his partner in life, Julie Posney, his children; Dylan, PercyLynn and Shane. His stepchildren; Dewayne, Tyler, Ariel, Jacob and Drake. All of Lake Isabella, Ca. Grant also leaves behind three sisters. Ginger Strawn of Golden Valley, Az; Kyra Haney (Roger) of Bakersfield, Ca; Gwen Armstrong (Charles) of Saginaw, Tx and numerous nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind his friend and mother of his children Deborah McKinney of Lake Isabella, Ca.

Grant's passing has left a hollow spot in all our hearts that only time and the Holy Spirit can heal. He was a loving father, brother and an awesome friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. You are free now dear brother. Go soar with the other spirits in eternal peace and tranquility.
