Howard German, Sr. Obituary

Visit the Singleton Funeral & Cremation Services, P.A. website to view the full obituary.

Howard Edward German, Sr. was a beloved member of the Glen Burnie community and a cherished family man who graced the world with his warmth and laughter.  Born on June 27, 1939, Howard lived a life rich in love and dedication, ultimately passing away on November 25, 2025, surrounded by the memories of those who loved him dearly.  Howard’s work ethic shone brightly throughout his career as a printer for Forman & Pearson and the Maryland Jockey Club, where he made lasting friendships and contributed to the community he held dear.  An alumnus of Poly, he carried his education with pride and used it as a foundation upon which he built a life of service and connection.  A vibrant member of several organizations, including the Ferndale Community Club, the Elks, and the Moose, Howard was a familiar face, known for his friendly smile and spirited personality.  He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending his leisure time indulging in shuffleboard and bowling.  Howard cherished the classic Western films, particularly those featuring John Wayne, often sharing those moments with family who would gather around to watch.

Howard's legacy is profoundly rooted in his family, which he considered the greatest accomplishment of all.  He was a dedicated father to his daughters, Sandra (Rick Anderson) German and Yvonne (Mark) Hardesty, and son, Butch (Lisa) German.  As a proud grandfather, he reveled in spending time with his grandchildren—Jocelyn, Joshua, Amber, Lauren, Morgan, Heather, Jake, and Leah—and his great-grandchildren, Bryce, Austin, Addison, Oakley, Easton, Sawyer, Maddie, Jagger, Crew, Charlie, Zane, Roman, Jett, and Ripley.  Each moment spent with them painted his world with joy and love and filled his heart with immense pride.

He now rests alongside those who have preceded him in death, including his beloved wife of 69 years, Liuna Marie German, and his son, Craig Lynwood German.  Reunited with his sister, Joan Singleton, and his parents, Bertha and Howard German, Howard leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will continue to inspire his family for generations to come.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Howard's life and share their memories during the visitation scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services in Glen Burnie.  The first visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM, with a second opportunity for remembrance later that evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  A heartfelt Celebration of Life will be held the following day, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10:30 AM in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Howard's name are requested to go to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org

“A Celebration of Life Luncheon for Howard German”- following the graveside service, will be held from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Ferndale Community Club, 15 5th Avenue, Glen Burnie, MD 21061
