Howard Andrew Johnson, age 68, of Chester, VA, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Born and raised in Hopewell, VA, he was the son of the late Dallas Earl Johnson, Sr. and Emma Etta Hanchey Johnson. He was also preceded in death by siblings: Ann, Ellen, Betty, and Sue.
Howard retired after 39 years in the fleet maintenance department for Chesterfield County. In retirement, he enjoyed working at Home Depot and continued to work part-time for Chesterfield County. He was an active member of Ivey Memorial Methodist Church where he was a part of the Ivey Singers, and a vigilant caretaker of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Suzanne; his children, Andrew, Marley, and Daniel; daughter-in-law, Marisa; grandchildren, Matthew, Maddie, Henry, and Jack; siblings, Lloyd, Cynthia Kay, and Dallas Earl (Janet), as well as a large extended family.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Ivey Memorial Methodist Church, 17120 U.S. Route 1, South Chesterfield, VA 23834. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Immediately following the funeral service, there will be a reception in the fellowship hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ivey Memorial Methodist Church.
