Howard Ned Kirkpatrick, Sr., 73, of Summerfield, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Faith Baptist Tabernacle in Stokesdale with Pastor Danny Hemric officiating. Burial will follow at Faith Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Howard was born in Danville, VA to the late Ned and Francis Lamberth Kirkpatrick. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved spending time with his family, riding his bike, gardening and going to church. He was a boilermaker and lifetime member of the Local 30 and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his son, Kenny Lee Kirkpatrick and foster parents John and Lucy Ross.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Madelen (Maddie) Tilley Kirkpatrick; son Howard (JR) Kirkpatrick, Jr. (Jason Johnson); grandsons Dameon Kirkpatrick (Alissa) and Charles (CJ) Kirkpatrick (MacKenzie); granddaughter Cheyenne Kirkpatrick. He is also survived by his foster siblings Thomas Ross, Wilson Ross, Johnny Ross, Guy Ross, Doug Ross, Rachel Archer and Betty Jean Myers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wilkerson Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
