Howard F. Runser, 89, also known as "Powerhouse Fred," peacefully passed on March 5, 2025, at Whitcomb Senior Living Tower in St. Joseph. He was born Sept. 7, 1935, in Ada, Ohio to the late Jonathon Oscar and Georgianna Julia Runser.
A funeral service will be at noon on Wednesday, March 12, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman, MI 49106. Friends may meet with the family from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Howard graduated from Ada High School, Class of 1953. Following graduation, he attended The Ohio State University, served in the U.S. Navy and met and married his sweetheart, Marjorie Fitzpatrick, on Aug. 1, 1956. They have enjoyed life together for the past 68 years.
Howard moved to Bridgman in 1969 to work for AEP at the Cook Nuclear Plant as an operator. He retired in 1996 as operations supervisor. He followed his father's footsteps as a life-long member of the Masons organization.
In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by his sons: Jeffrey and wife, Deborah, Andrew and wife, Michelle. He has five loving grandchildren: Lukas Runser, Matthew Runser, Samantha Runser, Jamie Runser-Sullivan (Scott Sullivan) and Brenton Runser; two great-grandchildren: Sean and Hailey Sullivan. He also has two step-grandchildren: Cuyler (Sydney) Anderson and great-grandson, Cuyler II and Jarret (Jourdan) Anderson and great-grandchildren: Jensen and Jarret II. He is survived by many nieces and nephews on the Fitzpatrick side of the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.

Runser Family - My wife Lyn and I worked with Howard Fred for many years at the power plant. He was the best Operations Supervisor I ever worked for on shift. We both extend our deepest condolences on your loss. Fred was a great man! RIP my friend, you will truly be missed.

RIP Howard, one of the nicest person I ever met. He also was the best boss anyone could have. He always had time to listen and help me during my early times at Cook Plant. My condolences to his family, I know he will be truly missed.
