Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Sevier Funeral Home Chapel in Tuttle, OK Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at Sevier Funeral Home Chapel in Tuttle, OK. A meal will be provided at the Tuttle Christian Church on 216 W Bond Street in Tuttle, OK, after the funeral service. Graveside Services will be held at Fairview Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Howell Duane Matheson (H.D.) of Minco, Oklahoma, passed from this life at 97 years of age on May 22, 2025. H.D. was born on July 30, 1927, to William Malcolm and Katherine Elizabeth Matheson in Stroud, OK, where he was raised on the 160-acre farm north of town. He always spoke of the hard work he did growing up, such as chopping wood, picking blackberries, and raising chickens for eggs to sell in town. He attended Buttermilk then Kendrick schools where he graduated in the Class of 1945. H.D. attended Oklahoma A&M, getting an associate's degree, then served a brief stint in the U.S. Army that included being stationed in Germany. H.D. returned to Oklahoma City where he was baptized in the Church of Christ, through which he met Maudie Wright. They were married at the Capitol Hill Church of Christ on February 18, 1956. They had three children, Tony, Ron, and Sherri, they moved to Blanchard, OK, in 1967 where the children graduated. H.D. and Maudie moved to Tuttle in 1977 where they resided until we lost Maudie in 2001. H.D. lived the rest of his life with Tony in Amber then Minco on the farm they purchased where he enjoyed 20 years of daily rides among the cows. H.D. always attended church when the doors were opened and lived faithfully to the end. H.D. is preceded in death by his wife, Maudie, and sisters, Dorothy Matheson, and Katherine Board. He is survived by his children, Tony Matheson and wife Nelie, Ron Matheson and wife Kim, and Sherri Brashears and husband Randy; 5 grandchildren, Brandi Florence and husband Chris, Randi Duane Brashears and wife Ashley, Rachel Matheson, Nathan Matheson, and Macy Matheson; 3 great-grandchildren, Bailey Evans, Ava Florence, and Olivia Florence.
