Hubert "Coleman" Pellman Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was born on January 27, 1951, in New Albany, Indiana, and passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Leavenworth, Indiana, surrounded by his beloved family.
A dedicated family man, Coleman took great pride in his children and grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. His family truly was his world, and he found immense joy in their company. He devoted himself to nurturing these relationships, instilling values and creating memories that will last for generations to come.
Coleman graduated from Floyd Central High School before embarking on a career as a bricklayer. He became a proud member of the Brick Layers Union and the National Rifle Association, and he dedicated his life to his craft, ensuring quality work that would stand the test of time. Beyond his profession, Coleman was an avid reader with diverse interests including farming, fishing, hunting, running, and canning. He also had a passion for making homemade wine and attending music festivals, where he reveled in the joy of live performances.
Coleman's accomplishments were notable, particularly his determination as a runner. He impressively completed his first mini marathon at the age of 40, demonstrating his tenacity and love for pushing his limits. His unstoppable nature served as an inspiration to those around him.
Coleman is survived by his loving family: son Nathan (Julie) Pellman; daughter Kathy Sturgeon; grandchildren Kyle (Kylie) Sturgeon, Gabriel Sturgeon, Allie Pellman, Amelia (Pierson Goke) Pellman, Chance Pellman, Robert Morris, and great-granddaughter Charlie Strugeon; brother Robert (Laura "Cricket") Pellman; sisters Corlis L. Pellman and Martha Jean (Brian) Anderson; brothers Samuel Edward Pellman and Timothy (Eva) Pellman; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will carry his memory forward with love and pride.
He is preceded in death by his grandchild Jesse Pellman; parents Hubert Sr. and Pearl Louise Pellman; and brothers William Tandy Pellman, Mark Pellman, and Joseph Pellman.
Coleman will be remembered not only for his hard work and dedication but also for the love and warmth he shared with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of family bonds, cherished moments, and unwavering determination.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southern Indiana, located at 3309 Ballard Ln, New Albany, IN 47150.
