Hubert "Hoover Jack" Locklear

Mr. Hubert Locklear, better known to those that knew and loved him as Hoover Jack, 93 years of age, of 1873 McGirt Gin Road, Maxton, North Carolina was born into this world on November 11, 1932 to Mr. William Locklear and Mrs. Pernishie Scott Locklear. Hoover went to be with the Lord, peacefully on Monday, February 9th, 2026.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons Anthony Locklear and Drew H. Locklear, his brothers William "McKinley" Locklear and James "Sonny" Scott, and his sister Shelby Jean Locklear.

Left behind to cherish his memory and to savor the never ending laughter of his witty humor are his beloved wife of 67 years, Mrs. Annie Ree Locklear of the home; his sons Harbert Locklear (Deb) and Bryant Locklear of Maxton, North Carolina; his daughter Patricia Cummings (James) of Maxton, North Carolina; his brother Truman Scott; his sisters Peggy Locklear, Wanda Clark, Rachel Ammons, and Barbara McGirt; a special friend Mr. Kenny Ray Locklear; his caregiver Annie "Aunt Tea" Chavis; his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 1-2 P.M. at Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs. The funeral will begin immediately following the visitation at 2 P.M. Burial will follow at Cherokee Chapel Church Cemetery.
