Huey Thomas White

Huey White, 83, of Poteau, Oklahoma passed away at 3:52 PM on January 13, 2025 at Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau.
The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025 at the Jones Harkins Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Red Oak with Pastor Johnny Montgomery officiating. The burial will follow at Lutie Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tracy White, Jimmy White, David White, Justin Washington, Andres Landaverde, Jaden White, and Bret Moss.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Garner, Dewayne Mankin, and the members of Bill Garner's Sunday School Class.
Huey was born on March 22, 1941 in Red Oak, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Lena White. A longtime resident of Panola, Oklahoma, Huey retired from Eastern Oklahoma State College as a bookstore manager and continued to run his small business, White's Saw Shop, for many years.
He loved the Lord and was an active member of Red Oak First Baptist Church. In retirement, he could often be found golfing, fishing, and playing a variety of musical instruments. Huey was an asset to his community, a joy to those who knew him, and a loving father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence and Lena White; and brother, Jim White of Red Oak.
Huey is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce (Ackley) White of Poteau; daughter, Julie Moss and husband Alan of Panola; daughter, Pam Wann and husband Roger of Muldrow, Oklahoma; and son, Tracy White and wife Michelle of Poteau; five grandchildren: Bret Moss and wife, Heather, Kelsee Landaverde and husband, Andres, Justin Washington and wife, Paxton, Hailey Fifield and husband, Dylan, and Harlie White; two great-grandsons: Evan Moss and Callan Moss; sister-in-law, Joye White; and several nieces and nephews.
